The property is wonderful, rooms new, spacious, and comfortable, and breakfast fantastic. The Gin Library, Gin O'clock, and Sushi all worth a visit. But, in the end, it's the owners and staff that make you feel right at home. Many thanks to Caroline, Ali, Ruben, Ricardo, Catarina, Joana, Nelia, Marcio, and to JC (though we never got to meet you but the grounds were beautiful). Already looking forward to another visit. This is the most incredible place and truly a paradise on Sao Miguel. My husband and me had the best time celebrating our honeymoon at solar branco for two weeks and it was the best decision ever - the personnel is just lovely, the landscape incredible and the apartments very modern. You’ve got everything you need - and if not, everyone is super helpful. The Gin Masterclass and the (vegan) Sushi Dinner was definitely a cherry on the top. It was a blast! We can only recommend this amazing place, we loved our stay and hope to return back some day. My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Solar Branco! The property is lovely and owners Caroline and Ali could not have been more welcoming and hospitable! From the moment our reservation was made, Caroline was incredibly responsive, informative and helpful. She would always follow up with any requests and was most accommodating with our early check-in. I gave the location 5 stars only because it is somewhat remote though a non-issue if you have a rental car. The property is about a 15 min drive to Ponte Delgado restaurants and the airport. Absolutely PERFECTION! My husband and I stayed there for two nights and LOVED it! The location is ideal - only 10 minutes from the city - yet, we felt that we were on a different planet - surrounded by magical nature. The room was spacious, clean, eco-friendly and suited everything we needed. Caroline and Ali, as well as the rest of the crew, were so friendly, kind, and accommodating - we are beyond grateful for their hospitality. Logistically: plenty of space to park and strong WiFi all around the hotel. Breakfast was delicious - great variety and everything locally grown. Last but not least, the sushi dinner (best sushi we had after Japan) and the GIN LIBRARY!!! A wonderful experience all together. We really can’t wait to come back. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I visited the Gin Library last year while on a yoga retreat. The hotel was set to open the next day. I couldn’t wait to go back and bring my husband. We spent 3 fabulous days enjoying the property, the staff and views. Breakfast was perfect and the sushi dinner fresh, exciting and fun. Gin O’clock is tasty, entertaining and all around fun. We identified a local bottle to exchange for one of theirs. Ali, Caroline and the entire staff are welcoming, warm and friendly. I am looking forward to my next trip back to Solar Branco Eco Estates. We enjoyed every moment of our stay at Solar Branco and wished we had booked all 8 nights at it instead of just our first 4! The owners Ali and Caroline and every staff member were so welcoming and helpful, they even provide an extensive guidebook for sites to see and restaurants throughout the island. They clearly take pride in the property and their work, and it showed with every detail. We stayed in the Barn and found it to be spacious, bright, and secure. We didn't make use of the full amenities as we were out and about and dined out for our dinners, but it was nice to know that we would have been able to cook meals if we wanted. We absolutely fell in love with the cats Gena, Tony, and Snowball, they bring so much character, warmth and entertainment to property. Overall it was the perfect home base for our Azores adventure and we would definitely stay again! It's hard to know where to start when reviewing a fantastic place like Solar Branco. The location is awesome, up on a hilltop that has a delightful view across to a grassy green slope, often populated by the local dairy cows, or maybe look out in two directions to see the Atlantic Ocean in all its glory. The rooms are excellent. Spacious and airy with large windows that let in all the sunshine and the most comfortable beds. We started our stay in the Barn and ended with a few nights in the Ruin. Both rooms are top-notch, very comfortable, and equipped with all the modern conveniences. Breakfast every morning is in a big dining room in the main building, provided by the friendliest staff. So many delicous treats and the best coffee to start your day and there's almost always someone there to chat with and exchange travel stories and ideas for things to do and see on the island. There's loads of green space further up the hill if you're looking for some quiet time with nature. While we were there we enjoyed a delicious sushi feast on one night, very exotic! On the next night we took in the Gin Masterclass with Ali in the secret hideaway. So much fun! Did I mention Gin O'clock?! Every evening stroll down to the Gin Library, have a delicious beverage, and make some new friends. This was our second trip to the Azores and our stay at Solar Branco made it perfect! If you are heading to Sao Miguel Island, Azores, Solo Branco Eco Estate is the perfect base from which to explore the Island. We were delighted to experience the tone of service, accommodation, food and drink expected of a major capital city, in this remote part of Portugal. The entire team made us feel comfortable, saw to our every request, and respected our privacy. Other hotels on the island may claim 5 star service (we sampled other places for lunches, dinners etc.) but Solo Branco delivers! This was our first stay at the islands. Gorgeous restored farm complex that has a gin library, farm that helps to stock the gin library's drinks, fantastic breakfast with freshly squeezed orange juice (that would go well with some gin), and a wonderful band of hostesses/hosts whose company wouldn't be wasted on Queen Liz, herself. Baleia, the in-house gin, is very smooth and beautifully packaged; you'll want to try this one before leaving the property. If you're keen on contributing to world's largest gin library, reference the Solar Branco's list of gins and bring a unique bottle, one that isn't mentioned on the list, from overseas. Special care is given to make sure that you're comfortable for your stay, including some of the most comfortable pillows I've ever slept on, and local products to showcase what the island has perfected over centuries.
