Staff were not particularly welcoming. And the drinks were expensive for the area and Porto in general. There were also a couple of groups of ‘Brits abroad’ (I can say that being British) on what seemed like stag dos who were being really loud and rowdy, getting absolutely bladdered. Eu poderia ver que este era um lugar decente se o sol estivesse alto, dependendo de quem estivesse lá.

We stayed in a 6 bed dorm room but we wouldn’t recommend this place. The room was very dirty, especially the en-suite bathroom but also the beds themselves. Due to the high humidity in the room we could even spot some mould. This was very unfortunate, since the hostel was very central and the location was perfect for exploring the city. Be aware that all the rooms are facing to a patio with a public bar, which can become quite loud during the evening. Rooms were great and had curtains so each bed got privacy. I booked a bed in a 6-bed dorm and was happy that each bed got 2 pillows each, perfect for pillow-huggers. The only downside to the room was that it smelled so strongly of BO because of the other guests. I know not the hostel’s fault but house keeping could at least air the room out when they take the trash and guests aren’t there. Lots of social activities for guests. Reservei uma cama em um dormitório de 6 camas e fiquei feliz porque cada cama tinha 2 travesseiros cada, perfeito para abraçadores de travesseiros. A única desvantagem do quarto era que cheirava muito forte a BO por causa dos outros hóspedes. Não sei se é culpa do albergue, mas a limpeza poderia pelo menos arejar o quarto quando levassem o lixo e os hóspedes não estivessem lá. Muitas atividades sociais para os hóspedes. A localização é boa, muitos restaurantes do lado de fora, mas fica a uma curta caminhada de qualquer estação ou parada

Didn't stay at the hotel but went for late afternoon cheese in the garden. The cheese board was great! Each cheese was tasty with a lovely jam and crackers. It's a shame, I had read a lot about this chain and T thought it Was going to be a good experience From the first moment, the staff was bad and unwilling to help, the room was nothing similar to what was being displayed, an underground bunker, full of humidity and dirty. Also from the moment I arrived I realized that all the lockers did not work (in my room and the others) with a slight movement the padlock moved and you could access all the personal things of the travelers, I went to complain to the reception (they told me that they had never told them and that they were going to look for another room but when we went to see the other room it was the same problem), they told me that they were going to talk to maintenance to solve it but what was the minimum? to take a day, imagine that I have been traveling for several months and I never thought that I had to take all my documents and money with me because the hostel did not give a solution to leave them (this was every day because someone from maintenance never came) when I mentioned it to those at the reception, they became misunderstanding and tell me that they have never put any request do not recommend this hostel at all, bad smells, poor cleanliness, unsafe. Nor would I go to any other hostel in this chain, unfortunately for the first and last time. Também desde o momento em que cheguei percebi que todos os armários não funcionavam (em meu quarto e os outros) com um leve movimento o cadeado se moveu e você poderia acessar todas as coisas pessoais de os viajantes, fui reclamar com o recepção (eles me disseram que tinham nunca contei a eles e que eles estavam indo procurar outro quarto, mas quando fui ver o outro quarto era o mesmo problema), eles me disseram que íamos falar com a manutenção para resolver mas qual era o mínimo? para levar um dia, imagine que estou viajando há vários meses e nunca pensei que tive que levar todos os meus documentos e dinheiro comigo porque o hostel não deu solução para deixá-los (isso era todo dia porque alguém da manutenção nunca veio) quando mencionei isso para aqueles na recepção, eles se tornaram mal-entendido e me diga que eles nunca fiz nenhum pedido não recomendo este albergue, mau cheiro, má limpeza, inseguro. Nem eu iria para qualquer outro albergue desta rede, infelizmente pela primeira e última vez.

I must say: The motto “come as you are, leave inspired’, is rather accurate here in Porto and Selina hostel has a lot to do with such a motto. I was fortunate enough to spend over 1 week at this place and let me tell you: it has exceeded my expectations. Big time. Selina is a mix of sleek, fun and functional spaces, making it the perfect spot to get cracking with work or sight seeing during the day and enjoy the free evenings. The hostel is super clean, super well located and surrounded by bars and restaurants. The staff is beyond friendly, big shout out to the awesome Pedro (reception) for literally reading my mind every time, and going the extra mile to accommodate all my requests. I also couldn’t write this without mentioning Joana and Jan who were absolutely fantastic on my 1 night at the hostel bar and made my stay even more welcome. I’m neither a digital nomad nor an entrepreneur (I'm just a foodie, big time sun-chaser who has a knack for PR & Media) but I’ve loved every minute here. I’ve met cool people and built genuine connections. Tive a sorte de passar mais de 1 semana neste local e digo-vos: superou as minhas expectativas. Grande momento. Selina é uma mistura de espaços elegantes, divertidos e funcionais, tornando-o o local perfeito para trabalhar ou passear durante o dia e aproveitar as noites livres. A pousada é super limpa, super bem localizada e cercada de bares e restaurantes. A equipe é muito amigável, um grande agradecimento ao incrível Pedro (recepção) por literalmente ler minha mente todas as vezes e se esforçar para acomodar todos os meus pedidos. Também não poderia escrever isto sem mencionar a Joana e o Jan que foram absolutamente fantásticos na minha 1 noite no bar do hostel e tornaram a minha estadia ainda mais bem-vinda. Não sou um nômade digital nem um empreendedor (sou apenas um foodie, um grande caçador de sol que tem talento para relações públicas e mídia), mas adorei cada minuto aqui. Conheci pessoas legais e construí conexões genuínas.

Great place to stay in Porto. I got a single room which was a good size. I wish the bathroom was a little bigger but otherwise it was a great stay. I'd come here again. The common spaces of the hostel were great and there were a few free activities one could take, including meeting residents of the hostel with a welcome drink and some wellness-fitness classes. What I wasn't satisfied with were the bathrooms of the community room. There were 15 beds in our room and just two under-lit bathrooms, which were not regularly cleaned. The other problem I encountered before my actual stay was that at the time of booking, I was informed that the amount displayed would simply be paid immediately at the time of booking. The fees were broken down, but only after I made the booking, another amount was mentioned in my confirmation email. This new price mentioned in the email was not displayed anywhere at the total cost during the actual time of booking. The total sum should be disclosed at the actual time of payment, especially since it was a non-refundable option. It was not a particularly significant amount, but it is just unacceptable to charge a different price than the one displayed during the payment process. Customers should be informed exactly what they would be paying in total, displaying the exact total amount, before they actually give out their card details and make a booking. If it were not for this transparency issue, I would have had a much more pleasant overall impression of the hostel. Não foi um valor particularmente significativo, mas é simplesmente inaceitável cobrar um preço diferente daquele apresentado durante o processo de pagamento. Os clientes devem ser informados exatamente quanto pagariam no total, exibindo o valor total exato, antes de fornecerem os dados do cartão e fazerem a reserva. Se não fosse essa questão de transparência, eu teria tido uma impressão geral muito mais agradável do hostel.
