I wanted to eat something small at 17:00, while they are open untill 17:30 they simply refused, there was no even an attempt to suggest a drink instead: they simply didn't want to. For a restaurant with that high rating it is more than strange. I don't recommend even to try. Para um restaurante com uma classificação tão elevada é mais do que estranho. Não recomendo nem tentar.

Great service, delicious seafood and fish. They also very kindly stored our luggage as we went for a walk by the seaside. Great experience. Prices on the high side, but worth it. The views from the restaurant are really lovely but I personally think it’s not worth the price given how the food was, in my view, very poor value for money. It wasn’t just the value for money that I personally had issues with, it was also how basic seafood preparation mistakes were made (we ordered the seafood platter). I personally thought the entire platter could have used a bit more seasoning and was a bit lacking in umami. Some of squid we were served wasn’t cleaned and prepared well as some of the squid still had leftover cartilage in them. Unacceptable! Monte Mar also had a habit of sneakily introducing ways of charging you more. Monte Mar charged exorbitant prices for the likes of bread which they will bring to your table without even asking so it would be best to refuse. For what they’re charging, one would expect mind-blowingly outstanding food but that wasn’t our experience with Monte Mar restaurant in Cascais. Additionally, some of the staff weren't as attentive as they should be. Unlike other restaurants, they didn't even ask how we're doing. This is basic hospitality 101 and even that, they failed to get it right. I personally felt like our time and money were wasted dining here. There are many other excellent Portuguese restaurants elsewhere at similar price points with better value for money! Pessoalmente, pensei que todo o prato poderia ter usado um pouco mais de tempero e faltava um pouco de umami. Algumas lulas que nos serviram não foram limpas e preparadas bem, pois algumas das lulas ainda tinham sobras de cartilagem. Inaceitável! O Monte Mar também tinha o hábito de introduzir sorrateiramente formas de cobrar mais. O Monte Mar cobra preços exorbitantes pelos tipos de pão que trazem à sua mesa sem sequer pedir, por isso é melhor recusar. Pelo que estão a cobrar, seria de esperar uma comida espantosa, mas essa não foi a nossa experiência com o restaurante Monte Mar em Cascais. Além disso, alguns funcionários não foram tão atenciosos quanto deveriam. Ao contrário de outros restaurantes, eles nem perguntaram como estávamos. Esta é a hospitalidade básica 101 e, mesmo assim, eles não conseguiram acertar. Pessoalmente, senti que nosso tempo e dinheiro foram desperdiçados jantando aqui. Existem muitos outros excelentes restaurantes portugueses noutros locais com preços semelhantes e com melhor relação qualidade/preço!
