It is like living as a guest in someone's house. The gardens and decor are amazing. Our room was lovely on the 2 nd floor overlooking the courtyard and garden. The staff are extremely helpful, friendly and courteous. The breakfast was delicious, best breakfast choices I've enjoyed, healthy and lovingly prepared and presented. All in all a wonderful stay. I would definitely return.

The restaurant has both outdoor and indoor seating and the food is excellent. We also enjoyed drinks at the outdoor bar. Although our room does not have a television, there is a big screen TV in the first floor communal sitting room, elegantly retaining it's delightful azulejos, readying blue and white tiles. We found ourselves far too busy to watch it, however. The staff are, like almost all the Portuguese, charming and helpful and, as far as we could determine, multi lingual, certainly English fluent. The service is excellent and the food in the restaurant is sublime. My new favourite breakfast is sourdough toast with crushed avocado and sautéed mushrooms with scrambled eggs on the side. The evening menu is equally varied but super Portuguese healthy in many cases. In Portugal it is well worth trying olive oil instead of butter on toast. We lived in Portugal at one time and only returned after 37 years. We won't wait that long next time. We are seriously considering coming again next year and staying longer. Just for information, there is no lift.
